Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Guide

Discover Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area

10,518 Beautiful, Protected Acres of Wild Nature!

Mount Timpanogos and the surrounding Wilderness Area are so vast, that even most locals haven’t discovered most of it.

Here are a few photos from a 4 hour drive along the Alpine Loop Rd, Scenic Byway on the opening weekend of American Fork Canyon and the Alpine Loop.

Some of these photos are from locations only accessible via 4×4 off road, or hiking from the paved road.

We’ve also included a few photos of our vacation rental cabins (shameless plug) as we offer the best lodging for accessing the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area (short of camping in a tent).

If you prefer tenting it, Mount Timpooneke Campground and quite a few other campgrounds are available for a fee and accommodate RVs, car camping, and level tent spots.

In addition to spectacular views and epic hikes, there’s no shortage of great experiences like the Timpanogos Cave tour, world class rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, etc. on Tibble Fork Reservoir, Silver Lake Flat, or Silver Lake itself, ATV trails, mountain biking, picnicking, and more.

Although the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness Area connects Utah’s American Fork Canyon with Provo Canyon, and covers more than 10.5K acres, it is not one of Utah’s National Parks.

As a National Forest however, the area is protected, maintained and preserved for your enjoyment.
